The IAAA
About
Algorithmic audits are entering the agendas of AI regulation, constituting one of the main methods to spot and tackle biases and social inequalities reproduced by algorithmic systems. The International Association for Algorithmic Auditors is conceived out of the need to bring together the perspective and expertise of algorithmic auditors from around the globe to discuss issues related to AI ethics and to lay the foundation for algorithmic auditing standards.
History
The concept of an IAAA was born during the first International Algorithmic Auditing Conference in Barcelona and Brussels, where global leaders in Algorithmic Auditing gathered to set the standards for this discipline. Participants from organizations like Eticas, Data & Society, BABL AI, Ada Lovelace Institute, Truera, University College London, University of Cambridge, and more discussed the importance of ensuring that algorithmic auditing brings true accountability and addresses potential harms to vulnerable communities.
